Safeguarding
Honeybee Childcare puts safeguarding at the forefront of all its activities, we believe that the safety and well being of the children, staff and parents that attend our settings is important. We have numerous safety precautions in place to ensure that the Nursery environment is secure.
We follow the Department for Education (DfE) definition of safeguarding as defined in the statutory guidance ‘Working together to safeguard children’
DfE defines safeguarding as:
Protecting children from maltreatment;
Preventing the impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development;
Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes
At our settings, we have comprehensive Safeguarding policies in place, to underpin our commitment, responsibilities and actions we take if there are any concerns regarding child safety
Some of the precautions we take:
We follow the Safer Recruitment process when hiring new staff. Our recruitment team are fully trained in Safer Recruitment, ensuring we have a rigorous recruitment process
All our staff are enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checked to ensure staff are suitable to work with children, these are updated every three years. As part of our recruitment process we ensure new starters have their DBS completed prior to commencing with us
All staff receive regular real life scenario based safeguarding training, where various safeguarding scenarios are played out in a practical manner
Our new recruits go through a rigorous induction plan, safeguarding is a key element in this process
We have DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) and DDSL (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead) always onsite, these are individuals who are trained at a higher level and are responsible for managing safeguarding within our settings.
The premises are monitored with internal and external CCTV 24/7
Our Nursery perimeters are secure
Our Nursery environments have been designed around children
We have access control doors securing our buildings and play area’s
