Partnership with Parents
Working in partnership with parents and carers is central to the Early Years Foundation Stage. Research shows that involving parents in their children’s learning is the most important factor in enabling children to do well.
We achieve strong relationships with our parents through:
Stay & Play
Our Stay and Play weekly sessions allow parents to spend time with their children in our settings, working together to share knowledge and understanding the child’s interest. Children and parents are encouraged to play and learn together to improve attachments, strengthen bonds and help the child’s overall development.
Sharing Observations
We use Tapestry to build a record of a child’s experiences, development and learning journey using photos, videos, and diary entries during their time at the Nursery. Parents are able to view their child’s progress, the activities provided for them, and how much fun they’re having, whilst also uploading their own comments and media.
Parent Progress Meetings
We hold termly progress meetings with parents, providing updates on how their children are progressing.
It enables practitioners to understand the child’s needs from the parents, so that activities can be planned in the Nursery. Likewise, this allows parents to understand the child’s needs with support from the practitioners, enhancing development at both home and nursery.
Nursery News
We use Class Dojo to share the latest news, update parents on key information, provide weekly topics that children will be covering in the week.
